Welcome to the round table

We have recently selected year 7’s Toby Dunn and Will Singleton to join our Student IT Management team.  Both students have been selected from our Student Digital Leader team, to work with Kevin Sait, the schools Head of IT Strategy, and 6th form managers Paul Harvey and Harry Traynor

Kevin explains:

The management team or ‘the round table’ is a great opportunity for students to get hands on experience in running IT systems in school.  Its about giving students opportunities to work with senior team members and gain the understanding of IT in schools and how it effects student learning.

The team is currently working on the Year 7 rollout for Office 365, which will happening in the next few weeks.      The team will also be looking at how the new Microsoft Surfaces have been used around the school.

Toby Dunn has been tasked with looking at future developments on the Surface and has been busy with Project Siena to enthuse students to develop apps for the Windows 8 platform.

Will Singleton is a big fan of the Touchdevelop platform, allowing apps to be developed across multiple platforms.

Its great to have these two students joining the team and helping to shape the IT direction at the Wymondham High Academy.

Wymondham High School Digital Leader team

Wymondham High Academy launched a Student Digital Leader team for the first in time in late December. Its aims are:

  • to involve students in the day to day running of IT systems in school.
  • enhance opportunities for learning within the Microsoft IT Academy.
  • to become school ambassadors within the school and the community.
  • to promote the coding agenda through practical hands on teaching of other staff and students both in school and the cluster schools.

The plan for Student Digital Leaders is to give ownership of IT systems in school, working with the technical team to offer support and training to staff and students as they go forward.

Students will also gain extra qualifications through the Microsoft IT Academy, including Microsoft Office Specialist and Microsoft Technology Associate.
